Fast-forward to 2024 and we will ask, what are the next steps on Tech? What is next on the agenda for African beauty companies?
For Chief Environment Officer Becca Roose wedding, bohemian glamour was the vibe. Becca weds venture capitalist Rafael Keys in an Etro’s first-ever wedding dress. The dress is a tiered off-the-shoulder gown, made with tull, finished with big ruffles and florets that communicated free-spirited ease. A feel enhanced by Becca’s choice to pair Etro with Graviel’s low heel mules and a seemingly effortless hair.
Becca is a TNS employee, and as she tells us TNS is passionate about environmental impacts and a greener planet. At TNS, a day at the beach picking plastic drawn by ocean waves apace with recycling initiatives are part of team building activities. Charitable initiative that seeks to generate positive impacts on local communities, particularly on vulnerable families, through fundraising and volunteer work. A day before her bohemian wedding Becca sits with me to chit-chat on the traits companies are looking for in new employees, how they identify these traits, and how TNS promotes employee based on employee environmental concerns.
What does the role of Chief Environment Officer mean for the company?
This position is a promotion within the firm. The Chief Environment Officer focuses solely on offsetting CO2 emissions and carbon footprints.
How do you keep track of success?
We are proud to announce the 99 thousand volunteer hours we present to our clients, each year.
I think a better question is where do we spend 99 thousand volunteer hours? In 2022, we spent them at the ocean. Also, with our communities. At TNS community servicing are cleaning initiatives programmed every month. Before payroll. It might sound like military enforcement, however, it is a moment of team building. We also spend these 99 volunteer hours discovering new businesses within the communities that we visit.
Are you validating a scenario where teams won’t spend time on producing waste?
Sustainability is a major part of business operations. We focus on earth- to- earth processes and during demand planning. What this means is our resources come from the earth but when the goods we are manufacturing are not biodegradable there is someone responsible for allocating time on offsetting the carbon footprint caused by non-degradable plastic and non-degradable packaging.
What has been your best discovery?
Our best discovery is currently set aside as a case study. Through case studies and through our corporate website we are able to present relevant information to our clients. We discovered Odul’s plant business and deforestation company during one of our visits to the communities. With our initiatives our team was able to dedicate time on educating Odul on the environmental impact of plastics, tetra bricks and plant packaging.
When a Minister plants a tree, as a symbol of deforestation, these trees are provided by Odul. However, Odul feels the ingrained issues of non-degradable plastic on his land. Our volunteer hours help Odul’s deforestation company move forward by cleaning and recycling non-degradable packaging found on his premises. This way we become the extra hands Odul needs to eliminate landfill.
Today, Odul’s deforestation company focuses solely on biodiversity and on the vast benefits of planting trees.
You describe yourself as a Bohemian, what does this mean?
Free-spirited is a choice. Not a simple one, however, it keeps me healthy, passionate and ready for a world where people are constantly talking about the next big thing. For a bohemian the environment is everything. From food, decorations, up to fashion one can tell our free-spirited ease. Most black bohemian I know spend time on discovering, understanding and accepting the earth.
Are you a Masai?
No, I am not. Not for a big company like TNS. The mindset may be similar.
How would you describe a perfect Bohemian wedding?
Outdoor wedding is glamorous when the environment is clean. If everything goes on well I should be smiling on our wedding day. The flowers to set the exterior decorations should arrive on time. Our guest should be comfortable on their seats. The jewellery’s I am wearing have arrived from the mines in Ghana. It is Manganese. The oyster co-operated very well last year too. This is what the necklace looks like.
The result of Becca’s bohemian bridal beauty look entirely matches her environment: aspirational, green, and wildly romantic. Well, what can oosyn say? The future of Tech will evolve to e-commerce development with great user experience, integration with Salesforce, content, catchy headlines and storytelling to enable sales and effective customer experience in a specific region.
